Session 2: Our Farms
On the 3rd of December the British Society of Animal Science (BSAS) and the Centre for Innovation Excellence in Livestock (CIEL), joined forces to bring you a day of lively and informative debate, on the topic of meeting UK livestock net zero carbon targets.
Climate change is the greatest environmental challenge currently facing our planet and the way we live. Addressing this will require concerted and coordinated efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from human activity. Farmed livestock are one source of such emissions. Achieving net zero carbon requires a strong consensus on where the industry is currently and a clear understanding of the areas which can contribute the most towards achieving this ambition.
Reducing the environmental footprint of livestock production and adapting our livestock production systems to the changing climate to support global food security is possible. But we need to identify the most effective solutions to each problem and implement these solutions via strong political will and action at both a local and global scale.
This will be a unique opportunity to learn about, and discuss with experts in the field, meeting UK livestock net zero carbon targets, while expanding your relevant network and developing new partnerships.
