We are building the university of the future. We are doing this through empowering and creating opportunity for all our students and staff so as they may learn, discover and enrich society locally, nationally and internationally. Our success is demonstrated by many accolades, including a TEF Gold Award, The Guardian University of the Year for 2019, The Times and The Sunday Times Modern University of the Year in 2018 and the THE University of the Year for 2017, not to mention a top-20 position in The Guardian League Table for the past two years.

The School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences at NTU is a dynamic school with a truly outstanding reputation in teaching and a fast-growing reputation in research and innovation. It is home to 1700 students, including around 100 MSc and 30 PhD students, and more than 130 staff in substantive posts.

More than 9 out of every 10 of our final year students recommend studying for a degree at NTU. The School’s outstanding reputation in teaching is also reflected in its consistently high standing in the National Student Survey. A multi-million-pound ongoing programme of building at the Brackenhurst campus means the School is home to many state-of-the-art learning, teaching and research facilities.

The School’s activity in the research and innovation space is rising quickly. It has excellent relations with numerous organisations and companies in the field, and significant funding from competitive sources such as UKRI is now being secured. This growth is being enabled by extensive investment in buildings, facilities and people in the School. Our geography and environmental research will have an outstanding new home in 2019 as part of an exciting £14M facility being developed at Brackenhurst, and new biology and molecular laboratories will be completed this coming summer

The Associate Dean for Research role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the leadership of the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences as it delivers on its bold vision for the future. You will have primary responsibility for leading the formation and delivery of the School’s research strategy. As a member of the School senior management group, you will also contribute more widely to the leadership of the School and University. As a Professor you will continue to undertake a substantive world-leading programme of research in a field relevant to the School.

So talk to us, tell us of a bold future you’d like to build and we will give you the support to make it happen.
