Based in SRUC’s Dairy Research & Innovation Centre in Dumfries and working with a wide range of project partners and stakeholders across South-West Scotland and Cumbria, the main purpose of this post is to lead promotion and communications for an exciting new Strength in Places Project “Digital Dairy Value-Chain for SW Scotland and Cumbria.” SRUC is leading this 5-year, £21.3 million project along with academic and industry partners.

In this role, you will drive industry engagement and support businesses from across the region to access funding, knowledge, R&D facilities, and expertise from the host institutions with the aim of increasing industrial engagement in R&D activity. Engaging as an independent knowledge exchange professional in individual and collaborative knowledge exchange projects, establishing a distinctive programme of area of knowledge exchange and generating interest through engagement with industry and professional bodies. Identifying companies who could benefit from working with DDC and accessing the research and facilities.

A key focus of the Innovation Broker, is to facilitate cross-over between the technology and dairy sectors by, approaching and developing relationships with the companies to identify specific project opportunities and then determine how these can be funded – directly by the company or by seeking R&D/Innovation funding, either singly or in collaboration with other industrial partners, utilising their understanding of economic development agencies and landscape. You will be responsible for managing and researching a portfolio of companies, understanding their business and potential customer base relevance, and identifying opportunities for development and growth, ensuring companies are advised appropriately to maximise development and growth opportunities.
