Accreditation news

18 Oct 2021

We understand that 2020 was a difficult year for all and that, in many cases, it was problematic, for some, to accrue the required number of CPD points. We are acknowledging this, and as a onetime only, have waived the annual requirement and are amalgamating the points collected over 2 years.

To manage the transition for those already on the register we are combining 2020 and 2021 logged credits – you have until 31st December 2021 to update your CPD activities during this “Exceptional Period” by 31st December 2021.

How to log your credits:

  • Log into your BSAS account via the BSAS website: https://bsas.org.uk/account/login
  • Select “My CPD Points” via the right-hand side menu
  • During the “Exceptional period” your CPD Record will be split into two section, ‘Recent’ CPD Records (Exceptional period) which runs from 1 Jan 2020 to 31 Dec 2021 and ‘Current’ CPD Record which will run annually from your accreditation start date
  • You must log any points accrued between 1 Jan 2020 to 31 Dec 2021 in the ‘Recent’ CPD Records (Exceptional period). If any points logged in this period overlaps your yearly anniversary CPD period, these will be automatically carried over to your ‘Current’ CPD Record
  • The CPD points tracker is separated into Work-based Learning, Professional Activity, Formal / Educational Activity and Self-directed Learning / Other
  • Once you’ve chosen the appropriate category in which to log your points, select “Add new”
  • Once you have filled in the relevant sections (detailed below), click “save” to log your points

For each activity area, the record should give:

  • A brief definition of the type of work undertaken
  • The date the activity was undertaken
  • The number of hours accumulated for each activity
  • A description of the work/activity and how it was beneficial
  • Evidence of the work having been undertaken (where appropriate)
