8th International Conference On the Assessment of Animal Welfare at Farm and Group Level

WAFL 2021 Keynote Speakers

We are delighted to announce that all keynote speakers have re-confirmed their participation at WAFL 2021 Virtual:

Dr. Stephen Cooke
Dr. Cooke lectures in political philosophy, and will speak about the ethics of different forms of protest, direct action, and political violence. This is a topic which is very topical at the moment, due to the growing level of activism by animal rights organisations.

Dr. Rebeca Garcia Pinillos
Rebeca has developed the ‘One Welfare’ concept, and will discuss how animal, human and environmental welfare are all interlinked, and can benefit each other.

Dr. Paul Rose
Paul is an expert in zoo animal welfare, and will speak about novel methodologies for analysing behaviour that can be used in other species as well.


Dr. Cassandra Tucker
Dr. Tucker is an expert on dairy cow welfare and will speak about developing and implementing dairy cow welfare audits.


Dr Frank Tuyttens
Frank is a pig and poultry researcher, and will speak about use of precision livestock farming technologies and implications for welfare.

4 Weeks until Abstract Submission Deadline


We welcome abstracts under the following themes:  
1. Transdisciplinary approaches to measuring animal welfare
2. Back to basics: practical solutions to improve animal welfare
3. Animal health and welfare: Interchangeable or interdependent?
4. The role of animal welfare in addressing global grand challenges
5. Humans in the animal welfare loop
6. Free papers (As well as the above themes, papers dealing with any other aspect of animal welfare science are also welcome, and can be submitted under the ‘Free Paper’ theme).
