BSAS 2018 moves to Dublin

The BSAS Annual Conference is moving Dublin for the first time in 2018 as part of the society's focus to bring developments and debates around animal science to more people than ever.

The conference, ‘Innovation to compete in the global livestock industry’ will take place at Dublin’s iconic Croke Park stadium from Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 April 2018.

The event will see more than 500 scientists, vets, policy makers and farmers from across the globe gather to hear about the challenges and opportunities facing the livestock sector, and the ways it can innovate to create more sustainable systems.

An international line-up of world-leading speakers will discuss the groundbreaking technologies being made in livestock production, as well as the issues that need to be addressed to ensure potential gains in productivity are grasped.

Speakers will also discuss how those developments are communicated with farmers and producers, and how the sector can encourage the adoption of new ways of working.

Encouraging international debate

The move to Dublin marks the start of a new initiative by BSAS to bring the event to different cities across the UK and Ireland, enabling new and different audiences to join the debate around livestock science and production.

Bruce Beveridge, BSAS chief executive, said: “As Brexit drives the UK to become more global in the way it deals with critical issues like trade and policy, it’s vital that livestock science and production is prepared and equipped to look beyond its own boundaries to find ways to innovate and develop.

“By taking the BSAS annual conference on tour, we will be able to help build relationships and networks across the European livestock sector and beyond, helping scientists, policy makers and producers to share knowledge, ideas and best-practice.”

Submissions are now being accepted on any aspect of animal science or related disciplines. Please make your one-page submission by 31 October 2017.
